I take what is refered to as the golden rule, but otherwise many of the beliefs are unique to witness interpretation: Paradise, two classes of christians, time of the end, no blood transfusions, no celebrations, shunning etc. Really once you acknowledge they are not God's representatives on earth, everything they say in his name needs to be questioned doesnt it.

Thanks for posting the scans, what complete brainwashing propaganda, and yet with every person that justifies this in their minds there will be others that see the arrogance of the WTS, placing themselves as God. I know I started to feel this way long before I did anything about it. Every time they plug a gap it causes another leak.

i have been away from the meetings for about a year now.
i recently attended a funeral and the witnesses mostly avoided me even though i am not disfellowshipped.
my problem is i need to replace my old friends because they look at me with such suspicion now.. i never had trouble making friends before i was a witness,but that was 30 years ago.
I'm in a similar boat, finding it hard to make new 'real' friends. The advice given already is great - dont be too hard on yourself, dont expect it all at once, put yourself in places where you meet people and be proactive. I attended an apostafest and found lots of people I can get to know better, even if they dont live nearby once you know someone similar you can mail/write/message etc. I still want someone nearby but it does take time, on the journey goes...

yes, i have been on jwd exactly one year today, and one year tomorrow is the anniversary of me da'ing from the wts, so it's a double celebration.
i don't post all that often these days, but i thought i'd drop in to mark this auspicious occasion.
it's been a busy year for me, and a good one, with the highlight being when i had the great pleasure of helping my friend fullofdoubtnow, a much more regular poster than me nowadays, to escape from the wts.

when we get to daniel 4 we have the dream and the tree is compared to the king nebuchadnezzar.
the wt confirms this and all is fine.

i wondered, since the jws claim that jesus is their teacher, what evidence do they have of jesus shunning "bad associations"?
it seems to me, from reading the bible, that the religious people of his day really gave him a hard time, because he actually spent the majority of his time with "bad associates", rather than shunning them.
thomas, though he followed jesus, wasn't totally convinced.
The problem I have is that the assumption that the Witnesses are indeed chosen by God (just as all the other religions believe about themselves). The evidence suggests the contrary (as can be researched through this board - see Best of). So really you are just shunning someone for not having the same beliefs as you. I think the difference here is the way the verses have shown the relationship between believers and unbelievers - in other words these people were not shunned but equaly were not associated with, that is a big difference to what goes on in the witnesses DF arrangement.
